Inner Healing
Our Mission Is…
Raphah Ministries is a (inner) healing ministry that equips and empowers individual hearts to be healed and changed. We facilitate (inner) healing via pastoral counselling, deliverance, prayer etc.
What is Inner Healing?
- Inner Healing refers to grassroots lay-counselling and/or pastoral counselling among
Christians of various denominations. - It engages the use of prayer, forgiveness, repentance, rejecting lies and replacing them
with truth and processing painful memories to bring emotional and spiritual healing. - Inner healing as a way to rediscover your identity in Christ.
- Inner healing is not very popular because sometimes, it overlaps with spiritual warfare and
physical healing or deliverance. - Some practitioners of so-called Christian inner healing use techniques that are rooted in
mysticism and New Age methods. THIS IS NOT BIBLICAL!
What are Inner Healing and Deliverance?
Inner Healing is the closing of the spiritual doors that we have opened in our lives.
Deliverance is the casting away of the unclean spirits that have access to our lives, physically,
spiritually, emotionally, and financially, because of those doors.
What Inner Healing & Deliverance are NOT!
Inner Healing and Deliverance is not, psychiatry, psychology, or therapy nor are they intended to take the place of these services. Inner Healing and Deliverance is not an advice column or a help line. It is NOT a self improvement program twelve step or otherwise.
The Session
This ministry has no set format. This is a Holy Spirit led ministry and as such can take many forms. There is no hard fast rule for how it is to be done or how it will look. The basic structure of the sessions does have some standard elements however.
Who needs inner healing?
Everyone! We are all broken in some way or another. There is NO one walking on this earth who has not been rejected, oppressed, treated badly, shamed, hurt, sad, angered, and many other forms of negativity breaking down self-images, perceptions of one self/others, self-control etc.
Our perceptions of our own self and other’s around us are also shaped by our upbringing, culture and experiences. Nevertheless, when we come into a relationship with God, we also bring in our perceptions or impressions.

Our impression of God is influenced by our impression of our parents or other authority figures in our lives. The Bible speaks of God as our Father. And for those of us who have a far less-than-perfect childhood, we may find it challenging to understand God’s love for us as a Father. Children who have been hurt and unable to express their feelings will grow up suppressing those feelings due to shame or other fears. These unresolved hurt remains until it is dealt with and healed by the Lord. Some of these hurts would even find its way to adulthood, manifesting in behavior.
Children who grow up with verbal abuse – as an example:
- would have low self esteem believing in all that have been spoken about them. Wanting acceptance, they would go around pleasing everyone. - On the other hand, some may abuse others verbally because of the anger they felt. It is always either defensive (protecting ourselves) or offensive (hurt others before they hurt us).
Past hurts are like a broken bone or other physical injuries. If it is not treated, it will become worse and cause other parts of the body to not function well. Because it is painful, we protect it so that it won’t cause us pain.
Our past hurt stops us from receiving God’s love because hurt people build a defense mechanism to make sure they won’t get hurt again. Because of our fallen nature also, we cannot believe that God loves us unconditionally. “If I behave well, I will be loved. If I get good grades, I will be loved. But this is not the character of God because He loves us unconditionally. And sometimes, we think that we’re not worthy or good enough of His Love, thus we work hard to get approval and love rather than accepting it as God lavishes it on us.
But when we are healed from our past hurts, we are able to see and understand clearer how deep, wide and long God’s love is for us. Therefore, we are able to fully embrace our identity in Christ.
There are many ways to obtain inner healing. What is important is being intentional and willing without being too introspective or rushing through it. Every person has its own rhythm and way of dealing with challenges, therefore every person’s road of healing will be different. Some will face their problems and resolve it quickly, while others might be too scared to face it and will take longer and slower to work through it. Healing is not meant to be a rushed action.
You cannot really completely diagnose yourself for we have a blind spot. It is dangerous to do that as the person may become too introspective with him/herself without the Word of God and help from other mature Christian counselor.
Healing is a lifelong process. Initially, it may be overwhelming, very hard and very painful. We need to make time for it. Read books, seek help or counselling. But it is not something we can rush through. Like taking medicine… it is every 4 hours and not every hour. God’s timing is always beautiful and perfect.
There’s always hope in God but we need to be intentional in seeking healing. We need to be honest. Inner healing is a journey of coming out from our shame and hurt. When we are not honest, we are only concealing it further and not bringing it into light. Anything that you conceal the devil will use against you, make you feel ashamed, guilty etc., but if you bring it out in the open and declare your sins, mistakes and failures it will set you free and brake the bondage of the enemy on you.
Inner healing brings greater freedom in being the genuine person in Christ. Our identity and security then lies in Him, knowing that He would always love us no matter what, thereby we feel more secure in sharing our true selves.”
Medical science has proven that your mind or your thinking affects your body. Positive and godly thoughts enhance your intellect, emotions and physical body. Toxic thoughts and brokenness on the other hand destroy them. Proverbs 23:7: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”. Thoughts shape your life for better or for worse. Deut 28 also set out what happens with your body when you are / are not in line with God’s Will and common modern day diseases can be seen in this chapter.
Inner Healing counselling also includes a session of deliverance.

- Any time a song, movie or experience causes an emotional trigger this is a sign of an open wound. Emotional triggers include crying, withdrawal or even lashing out in anger toward others.
- There are memories that you blocked because they cause too much shame and emotional pain when you remember them.
- Overreaction - This happens when feelings are projected, regarding a deeper issue, upon something in the moment. Take a step back and make sure the response fits the situation.
- Difficulty forgiving someone or holding a grudge for something that happened in the past suggests the need for emotional repair. Start with forgiveness and directly confront painful feelings.
- A constant replay of different memories indicates a problem in the heart. These never truly go away unless given to God to permanently heal.
- Inner wounds take a toll on confidence and cause low self-esteem. Break the bondage by breaking the silence and confronting the core problem.
- You do so much to help your children and loved ones, but you feel unvalued by them.
- You think that you do not deserve a man/wife of good character, and you often attract men/women that end up disappointing you.
- People who have a hard time navigating relationships, both family members and friends, and always need to maintain a safe distance from people could be struggling with this. A certain level of vulnerability is actually healthy for relationships, when constantly avoided it’s a form of self-protection.
- To express love and affection is hard for you. Also, it could be that you do not express it enough, or you express it too much to the point of making people uncomfortable.
- You have problems in your marriage because you are not able to trust in your spouse.
- When a person can’t seem to break bad habits that destroy their quality of life, there’s almost always a deeper reason at work.
- You give in to unhealthy habits that make you feel better emotionally, such as: overeating, spending long hours on the Internet, splurging in clothes and shoes, addictions, frequently attending raves and going to clubs, etc.
- Mood swings and emotional ups and downs amplify the root problem. True healing can only begin through courage and a willingness to acknowledge there's an injury.
- You are quick to criticize yourself, and you feel guilty when others are not satisfied with you.
- You put up a front of being “tough” to protect yourself from getting hurt, but you end up hurting others with your attitudes.
- You suffered some kind of abuse, negligence or rejection in your past.
- You appear to be happy before others, but only you know the emptiness you feel inside.
- You would like to be able to sit down and talk to someone about the conflicts inside of you, but you fear opening up because of your position in the church or in the family or in the community.
